EU puts pressure on big tech companies to stop using deepfakes

Post by nurnobi24 »

Deepfakes are images or videos that have been edited to appear different from their original copy. A form of artificial intelligence called deep learning is used to alter these images and videos . Some of the changes made include modifying the words an individual is saying or creating images from scratch that look realistic. These images may be real but the original copy has been slightly altered.

Why are they bad?

Deepfakes are bad because they are false representations of things that have happened or may not have happened. This can lead to the spread of false information and could affect gambling data vietnam people's credibility and could affect important things like political elections.

Reducing the amount of fake news

The push to crack down on deepfakes comes as the EU is trying to cut down on the amount of fake news. A voluntary code was introduced in 2018 to try to curb misinformation, but this code is now expected to be regulated. Companies that fail to regulate deepfakes could be subject to fines amounting to 6% of their annual revenue.

Companies will have six months to implement procedures to stop the use of deepfakes . After this period, they will be subject to these hefty fines.

People who are more interested in deepfakes and the technology used to make them can increase their knowledge by participating in academic programs sponsored by FUNIBER. Programs related to these interests include a Master in Strategic Management in Information Technology or a Master in Strategic Management in Software Engineering .
