The use of the internet and social media has been on the rise for years. We app, stream, like and share 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The internet and all the technology around it play a major role in our daily lives. The infographic below shows how big that role is.


Every year, DOMO collects facts and figures about our online activities, phone number library asking the (now familiar) question: how much data do we generate online every 60 seconds? They have visualized the results in the infographic below.

It remains surprising every year how many activities there are online in 1 minute. The use continues to increase. For example, 3.4 billion people used the world wide web in 2016. Last year this had grown to 4.5 billion and this year the counter is at 5.2 billion users! Together they are good for a whole online activities.

Did you know that YouTube users watch over 694,000 hours of video in 60 seconds? Or that TikTok has over 167 million video views? Or that there are 5.7 million searches on Google? Or that there are 856 minutes of webinars on Zoom?

About 6 million internet users shop online and on Facebook more than 240,000 photos are shared by users. On Instagram that is 65,000 photos and on Twitter even 575,000 messages in 60 seconds. 12 million people send an iMessage message and users on Snapchat send about 2 million Snapchats in 1 minute. And on Netflix more than 452,000 hours of series and films are streamed.
