How did your interest in board games begin?
It started at a very young age, from 15, 16 years old, my twin brother and I used to play Dungeons & Dragons in our city Bogotá, Colombia. When we arrived in Costa Rica, these types of games were not known, so we decided to turn spain consumer mobile number list our hobby into our business project.
When you co-founded Avalon Game Arena in 2001, what resources did you have to carry out this project?
We really had few resources, we were new to the country, which presented a challenge. However, we knew the products very well, our older brothers lived in the USA at that time, so we had a certain ease in having access to these products and later selling them in a market where they were practically unknown. However, tenacity and passion for this hobby, led us little by little to develop the growth of the market at a national level.
At what point does digital marketing enter your life?
I have always been a big fan of technology , and above all very curious, which is why I have always been interested in these topics. In recent years, and especially during the crisis of 2008 and 2009 in the USA, where many game production companies were affected and forced to close their doors, we noticed that the changes that were coming would be shocking . At this point I became much more interested, deciding to fully and full-time get involved in this area.
What are the particularities of the board games market in terms of communication?
Board games are an ancient tradition. They are one of the few activities in which we interact socially with other people in a fun way, and “disconnect” a little from the digital world in which we live today. Being luxury and imported products, they become expensive products for the consumer , a factor that creates a great limitation when choosing communication channels.
In this regard, how has the emergence and expansion of digital marketing changed the rules of the game?
Platforms and major technological advances provide us with a wide variety of channels that allow us to stay in touch with our clients and potential consumers , get to know them a little better, and above all, be able to provide them with facilities to access their favorite hobby.
