SEO and SEM positioning: two forms of digital marketing

The use of digital marketing is very extensive. Positioning in metasearch engines is one of the needs that companies see as a priority in many cases. However, there are two ways to do it: organically or through payment.

The organic way of doing digital marketing is called SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ). Organic marketing or SEO is based on a set of practices to obtain better results in search engines naturally. This means having to carry out an SEO positioning strategy so that the website we want to position is one of the first that appears when we search for words related to it.

SEM ( Search Engine Marketing ) refers to paid advertising campaigns to appear in the first results of metasearch engines. Using this positioning method, the advertiser bids to overseas chinese database appear in the first search positions that are by default reserved for paid campaigns.

The choice of each of the positions must be studied by the company according to its needs. While SEO focuses on improving the position of a website, SEM is summarized in an advertising campaign. Taking this into account, it can be said that, having a short-term objective, SEM is more expensive than organic positioning.

However, SEO positioning is a task that cannot be set aside. In the long term, organic marketing must rely on constant effort, human and material resources, so that its results are truly useful.

Neither strategy is better than the other. Both have their functions depending on the current needs of a company or project, having to make use of these two forms of digital marketing.
